Care steps after your root canal

Endodontic treatment has now been completed. The root canal system is permanent. In the hours and days following your root canal, it is important to take measures to protect the affected area and monitor any changes you may experience such as swelling, bleeding and fever.

After your root canal, the outer surface is sealed with a temporary restoration only. It is necessary to have a follow-up restoration placed on the tooth to protect it against fracture and decay. Please telephone your general dentist for an appointment. Our office will forward a report of treatment to your general dentist.

Follow-up appointment

Included with your treatment in our office is a 6-month follow-up examination to evaluate the progress of healing. This appointment is at no additional charge and will require only a few minutes. A reminder card will be sent by mail to schedule this appointment.
