Endodontic Consultations
Why do I need an endodontic consultation appointment?
The primary objective of a consultation appointment is to determine if you need endodontic treatment — more commonly referred to as a root canal — and if so, to discuss the appropriate procedure and treatment plan with an endodontist, a dentist who has additional education, training and certification in endodontics.
What should I expect during an endodontic consultation appointment?
Your endodontist will make a diagnosis and discuss your options for further root canal treatment — or explain why endodontic treatment is not indicated.
The consultation appointment includes:
- A thorough diagnostic evaluation including standard radiographs and a Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) 3-D scan
- An extensive oral examination of the problematic tooth / area
- Specialized endodontic testing
- A one-to-one discussion with the endodontist, which will include treatment options for your tooth / teeth
